This book is an attempt to trace through time a slender thread to the past, following the de St. Jorre paternal line through almost 400 years as they moved provinces and countries every generation or so, including traveling to the then exotic Indian Ocean islands which still retain a faint shadow of this aura today. Essentially this is a historical exercise that is guided by genealogic line rather than an attempt to trace ancestors.
